Secretary of State’s Office Fails to Certify Joe G Petition Signatures
Denver, CO—Joe Gschwendtner (Joe G.), withdrew from the Colorado Governor’s race this afternoon after the Secretary of State’s office failed to certify the minimum number of petition signatures to place him on the August 10th Primary ballot. The Gschwendtner campaign submitted 18,746 signatures and fell short of the 10,500 threshold required.
“We came very close and are disappointed in the outcome today,” commented Gschwendtner, “Our campaign was confident we had collected more than enough valid signatures but the Secretary of State’s office disagreed. I respect this process, will not challenge the results, and am withdrawing from the Governor’s race.”
Gschwendtner went on to say, “The reasons I entered this race have not changed. I believed then, as I do now, that I am the best Coloradan for the job. At this time, I will not be endorsing any of the remaining candidates for Governor.”
The Joe G campaign offered a heartfelt thank-you to the volunteers and staff that worked tirelessly on this race and gave a special thank-you to the thousands upon thousands of Coloradans who signed petitions to place Joe G onto the ballot.
When asked about future plans, Joe G said, “I will not focus on personalities remaining in this race. Rather, I intend to direct my energy and resources to promoting the ideas and solutions that will ensure fiscal solvency and bring much needed efficiency to Colorado state government.”

Dear State Assembly Delegates and Alternates:
My name is Joe and I am working hard to earn your vote for Governor.
Like you, I have a deep love for Colorado. I raised my family here and dug my roots in deep. Therefore, the direction our state has gone in the past four years is very troubling to me. Just as troubling has been the candidates our party has offered us in this year’s gubernatorial race.
Reagan was right when he said “Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.”
My friends, it is time to stop subsidizing problems and start creating an environment for job creation like this state has never seen! From energy, to defense, to bio-tech, to builders and infrastructure – I promise to do it. That’s not the empty promise of a career politician. It’s the pledge of a very successful businessman who turns failing organizations around. It’s the promise of a guy who has a track record of turning financial problems into profit.
You and me and the rest of Colorado – we’re in this together!
- I will be on the ballot (I am petitioning on) and have a proven ability to raise the money to run a successful campaign.
- I am not a politician; I am a “real world” guy with a track record of success.
- I have a genuine understanding about economic issues and know how to get government out of the way so that sustainable, private sector jobs can be created.
- I have spent 35 years in business helping struggling companies turn themselves around.
My name is Joe G. – Joe Gschwendnter – and I’m not just asking for your vote; I’m determined to earn it. Compare who I am and what I have to offer to the other candidates are saying and then make your decision.
I will be at the Assembly on Friday and Saturday, eager to meet each of you, shake your hand, look you in the eye, and work with you towards victory for Colorado!
Joe Gschwendtner
Your next Governor for Colorado!
